THE FEAR ~ terrified, the new arrivals never knew what to expect... "every tree has become an Indian for the terrified inhabitant." Most were simply engulfed by their fear.
THE UNKNOWN ~ and that it was... Who cared? They were in the way, like a nuisance, an insect to be squashed. The savage of the forest meant nothing to most.
THE MISUNDERSTOOD ~ Essentially thinking they were superior, the new arrivals didn't take the time, or just didn't bother to understand the Indian, and their ways... Racism was rampant, exclusion and separation followed.
THE LAND ~ It was essential to their survival in this new world of theirs... They could not look beyond their existence, for doing so might make them want to include the Indian, and they were out to take it.
THE RESOURCES ~ most times the only reason for committing Genocide, they were plentiful and abundant, enough to spoil and overuse. There was so much, that it invited wasteful behavior... Nothing else mattered to them.
GENOCIDE ~ pre-meditated, miscalculated, government knew full well that they had to do this in order to get the land ~ so a plan came to be that assured the parties involved, church and state, total immunity from prosecution.
DECEIT ~ promises broken, not one treaty kept, quite the opposite: "Treaties were never meant to be kept, just a means to get what we wanted at that time, then subject to annulment or disregard until it served another purpose later." Stealing always includes deceit.
MURDER ~ Over 100 million Original People killed in Turtle Island, giving Hitler the idea for his 'unwanted people'. Murder simply meant how good you were with a gun, and you got paid for the body or the scalp.
RACISM ~ Settler societies are the worst of racists... Mostly uneducated, they came in droves just to install themselves at any price. The Indian was totally excluded, seen as "lower than manure in the streets." (BDLC)
DOMINATION ~ "If we are to conquer these people, then we, the superior race, must totally annihilate the previous inhabitants." As in the Latin word for God, 'dominae', these newcomers really thought they were 'God's gift to the heavens', and we're encouraged to kill every Indian on sight.
OPPOSITES ~ The Natural Law of the Indian stood for the exact opposite of the European's way of force, hate, exclusion, superiority, and man-made religion. A chart of both, side by side, clearly reveals this.
LIES ~ "One of the easiest ways to conquer a People, is to lie to them, time and time again, and while they speak of this treachery, we are arming ourselves and surrounding them as they sleep."
AGENDA ~ As it is still today, the selfish agenda is the taking and the destruction of everything held dear and Sacred to the Indian. The agenda is to put an end to the "Indian problem" once and for all on these lands
